Glasshouse Advisory’s R&D Tax and EMDG practices have transferred to leading independent assurance, tax and advisory firm, Grant Thornton.
The Export Market Development Grant (EMDG) program closes for applicants who are self-lodging in a little under two weeks, on Thursday 30 November.
It’s important to remember that Austrade heavily audits EMDG applications, so we always recommend that you have all your paperwork to support your application in order before you lodge.
The overseas marketing trips and overseas representative categories of eligible expenses are especially heavily scrutinised. The devil is in the detail for EMDG applications, so if you are finding the whole process a little overwhelming, we do offer ad-hoc advice to self-lodgers at a competitive hourly rate, as well as a high level review service. This high level review service provides self-lodgers with strategies to improve both the strength and size of your application.
What if you were planning on lodging your EMDG application by 30 November but have run out of time?
The good news is that the program is open for applications until 28 February 2018, but only for applications lodged by approved EMDG consultants such as Glasshouse Advisory.
If you do utilise the services of an approved EMDG consultant, not only will you save time, but you will also likely receive a larger grant. Austrade statistics indicate that self-lodgers have a lower average EMDG grant payout compared to claims prepared by an Austrade approved consultant. As your approved consultant, Glasshouse Advisory will also deal with and respond to any correspondence or audit queries from Austrade.
